Doris (Dolly) was a humble servant of God ~ Daughter, Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother! Everyone that knew her experienced her kind heart, her witty sense of humor and her passion for perfection in all that she set her mind to. Her first priority was her family - Always! Dolly had a nurturing spirit! Dolly never complained but instead put her head down and shoulder to the grindstone to accomplish what it took to keep the house intact and providing for her family.

Her work ethic began at an early age. Born to Jacob and Josephine Tex on the farm south of Papillion on May 7, 1928, Doris had 3 siblings that worked alongside of her and created the family values that she carried with her the rest of her life. Her education began at Sacred Heart Academy (St. Columbkille) in Papillion and she graduated from Papillion High School. She attended business college in Omaha and worked as a secretary in Omaha and at the Courthouse in Papillion.

Dolly's passion for the farm continued with her marriage to Edward Safarik in 1947 and she was back on the farm as a farmer's wife a mile away from where she grew up. Together they raised eight children and raised crops and livestock on the farm on Capehart Road. They were married for 46 wonderful years.

As a wife and Mother her skills grew quickly as the demand came for help on the farm and as the children began to arrive. Her skills included driving a tractor and truck. She spent time out of every day taking us back and forth to Catholic Schools all around the Metro area. Her administrative skills came in handy as a scheduler and planner, exceptional cook and baker (you know this if you ever had one of her cookies and it did not matter what kind), master gardener, seamstress, teacher, tutor, and mentor...and not a bad barber either!

After Edward passed away in 1994, Doris moved from the farm to a home in Papillion and continued to enjoy her family and interests. During her retirement she enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, crafting and working for a craft boutique, rug making, reading, going to movies and doing some traveling. She enjoyed dancing polkas and waltzes and took up square dancing later in life as well. She had a hard time sitting still!

Dolly's main focus in life was always faith and family and never let that stray from her daily routines. The much appreciated aspect was that she served with grace and dignity every second of her life. She was our shining star on Earth and she gave until she could not give any more. She passed peacefully on July 15, 2023.
