Events | David W. Fisher (73) September 18, 1954 - March 26, 2024 David W. Fisher died on March 26, 2024, peacefully in his home in Wellsville, PA. Born September 18, 1954, in Beatrice, NE, to Ila Mae Green (liv) and William Dwayne Fisher (dec). He is survived by his mother, Ila Mae Green of Omaha; his daughter, Jillian L. Fisher (Daniel Reep) of St. Augustine, FL; and his son, Myles V. Fisher (Carissa Fisher) of Jonestown, TX; two grandchildren, Isabella N. Reep and Cyrus R. Reep of St. Augustine; brother, Doug Fisher (Valerie Fisher) of Bellevue, NE; sister, Denise Starr (Scott Starr) of LaVista, NE; brother, Darin Fisher (Lisa Fisher) of Council Bluffs, IA; nieces and nephews, Jarod, Jason, Curtis, Dakota, Sierra, Savannah, and Mia. Dave was a dedicated USMC veteran. He retired in 2005 as a Lt. Col in the USMC after 29 years of service. He served his country with an unbridled honor and true patriotism. As an officer, his specialty was Traffic Management and Embarkation. Dave received a Legion of Merit shortly after 9/11, Joint Svc Achievement Medal, Joint Svc Commendation Medal, Defense Meritorious Svc Medal, Navy and USMC Commendation Medal, National Defense Scv Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Sea Svc Deployment Ribbon, Navy and USMC Overseas Svc Ribbon, Korean Defense Svc Medal, USMC Recruiting Ribbon. He grew up in Nebraska and graduated from Papillion High School in 1973 before enlisting in the U.S. Marines Corps in 1976. In his retired years, Dave loved to hunt and fish. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and NRA. He adored his grandchildren and was so very proud of them. Overall, he was an exemplary model of a true American. A SERVICE honoring the life of David W. Fisher will take place at the Omaha National Cemetery on April 19, 2024, at 1:30 p.m., followed by a reception at the American Legion from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. |
