Events	Kathleen Diana Anderson June 24, 1944 – January 25, 2025 Teacher G STanley hall, Lavista Jr. HIgh. Kathy was born on June 24th, 1944, in Manhattan, New York to Mary and Bennie Parker. She passed away on Saturday, January 25th, 2025, at the age of 80. After high school, Kathy attended Cheyney University in Cheyney, PA, where she graduated with a B.S. in Elementary Education in 1966. While at Cheyney University she met her late husband Jon Anderson. Kathy and Jon had two children, Chantell and Deryck. In 2000, she earned her master's degree from Peru State College. Kathy was a beloved school teacher for 25 years before retiring in 2005. She also worked part-time at the La Vista Public Library for three years. In her free time, she enjoyed crafting, crocheting, and spending time with her friends and family. One of her greatest joys was her granddaughter, Rylee. Kathy was also a graduate member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. Kathy battled many health challenges. She never lost her passion for helping others. Kathy was preceded in death by her husband, Jon Anderson; daughter, Chantell Anderson; and her parents, Mary and Bennie. She is survived by her beloved son, Deryck; her cherished granddaughter, Rylee. She also leaves to mourn her death special friends Laura and Vince Rukstalis and Sandra Groves and many caring family members and friends. The Anderson family would like to extend their gratitude to the doctors and nurses who provided care and compassion to Kathy in her final days.
