A funeral service will be held at St. Gerald Catholic Church in Omaha on Monday, January 7, at 10:30 a.m. Pat is preceded in death by his brother John; grandparents Max Rankin, Jean Rankin McMorran, and Howard and Bernice Melcher; and uncle Steve Rankin. Survivors include his children Max (14) and Ryan (12); his wife Janelle, all of Omaha; parents Mike and Carolyn Melcher of Ankeny, IA; brother David (Cathi) Melcher; their children Bella and J.D., of Omaha; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and loyal friends over the years. |

Passed away January 2, 2013, from complications sustained in a motorcycle accident in 2000.
A funeral service will be held at St. Gerald Catholic Church in Omaha, Nebraska, on Monday, January 7, 2013, at 10:30 a.m.
Pat is preceded in death by his brother, John; grandparents, Max Rankin, Jean Rankin McMorran, and Howard and Bernice Melcher; and uncle, Steve Rankin.
Survivors include his children, Max (14) and Ryan (12); and his wife, Janelle, all of Omaha; parents, Mike and Carolyn Melcher of Ankeny, IA; brother, David (Cathi) Melcher; their children, Bella and J.D. of Omaha; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and loyal friends over the years.

Patrick Michael Melcher was born July 8,1962 in Oskaloosa, Iowa, to Mike and Carolyn Melcher. He became a great role model and protector to his younger brothers, David and John. While growing up with his cousins in Osky, he originated his one-of-a-kind wit and charm that would later make many of us scratch our heads and have us rolling in laughter.
At age 13, he moved to La Vista, Nebraska, to start his junior high years, finish high school, and develop his lifelong friends that adore him. He graduated from Papillion-La Vista High School in 1980. following high school, he started his work career at Mid Continent Bottlers where the "Pop Guy Brotherhood" was formed. He finished his career in sales at Dallas Johnson Greenhouse.
Janelle and Pat started dating in the summer of 1993, marrying two years later in '95 and enjoyed their mutual love of motorcycles. But his greatest role in life started when his son Max was born in 1998. "Every day is a good day" became his motto especially after his April 2000 motorcycle accident. Three months later, he waqs blessed again when his son Ryan was born.
Pat's incredible strength allOwed him to enjoy his life despite his breathing difficulties. Friends and family were given his unique personality for nearly thirteen more years.
Pat was greeted in Heaven by his brother, John, and his loving grandparents. He has now resumed his role as protector of his younger brother who passed away in 1994. Also, enjoying the company of Pat at the heavenly bar is Elvis, Wolfman Jack and Harry Chapin.
