He passed away on Monday, June, 2012 at Hospice House in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 53 ears, 9 months and 2 days. Mike grew up in Papillion where he attended grade school and graduated from Papillion High School in 1977. Mike received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Kearney State College in 1982 and went on to receive a Master's Degree in 1988. As a young boy, his interests revolved around sports, especially basketball and baseball. Mike married Mary Schutte on June 13, 1987 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Superior and they were blessed with two children, Josh and Brittney. Mike and Mary have raised their family in Nelson and Elkhorn, Nebraska. Mike has always worked in education, as a teach and administrator in Guide Rock, an administrator in Waterloo and most recently as an administrator at DC West. He enjoyed golf, basketball and officiating basketball games. When Mike officiated youth basketball he would take time to explain the violation to the young participants and was often complimented by the parents for his extra effort. Mike was outgoing, helpful, caring and enjoyed making others laugh. Poor drivers and unlocked doors would test his patience. He was preceded in death by his parents Eugene and Patricia and sister Sue Petersen. Mike is survived by his wife Mary; son Josh and daughter Brittney all of Elkhorn; Twin brother Pat & wife Terri of Savannah, GA; brothers and sisters-in-law Steve & Louise Kendall of Omaha and Jeff & Onalee Kendall of Michigan; father and mother-in-law Paul and Willa Schutte of Nelson; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law John & Shari Schutte of Nelson, Allen & Sue Schutte of Elkhorn and Paul & Tom Dahl of Deshler; nieces and nephews; a host of friends. Memorial Mass was held on Thursday, June 7, 2012 from St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Elkhorn. Inurnment was held at Prospect Hill Cemetery.
