Lucinda Monasmith Gillum died peacefully on Feb. 27, 2025 following a long illness.
Born in Honolulu in 1957, Lucy moved soon after to Tucson with her mother, Sara Monasmith, and her father, Charles, an Air Force veteran. She attended Palo Verde High School (class of 1975) with her two brothers, Tom and Steve. She later became an emergency dispatcher with the city and later volunteered with the Tucson Police Department.
Lucy had an enormous heart for animals and enjoyed the time she spent with her friends and family, including her two grandchildren. She is survived by her son, Jack, and her brother, Steve, and was preceded in death by her husband, Ron.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks you donate your time, money or talents to the Humane Society of Southern Arizona or the Tucson Interfaith HIV/AIDS Network (TIHAN).
A memorial celebrating Lucy’s life will be announced at a later date.
