CW2 Sutton, Scooper, died on 9 September, 1969 in Quang Nam Provence, Vietnam, while piloting his UH-1 "Huey" helicopter. While egressing an LZ fully laden with troops aboard, his aircraft collided with a tree. All aboard perished. Sutton park on 10th Ave is named in his memory. His death was for all of us. Let us never forget his sacrifice. His passing is recorded on the "Wall" on Panel 18W, Row 30.
You were too young to pass and deserved to be a father to your child. God rest your soul, Scooper, and thank you for your service and sacrifice
to our nation. I am better for having known you.

Whenever family or HS classmates come to town, I take them to the Vietnam Wall and show them Ben's name on "the Wall." David Foy
