Dick (aka Vic) was an internationally respected wildlife biologist, known especially for his work with the brown bears of Kodiak Island, AK. After Dick retired from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in late 1997, he and his wife Jacke moved back to his mother’s rural hometown in Custer County of southern CO. There, Dick continued working with wildlife part-time, helped to manage a family ranching corporation, and participated actively in civic, conservation, and charitable organizations. Dick and Jacke were married for 53 years, and they raised three children. A more detailed obituary is online at the URL:
