Rick L. Roberts

Class of 1973

I have been an actor in film and t.v. since 2001 when I moved to Wilmington, North Carolina and got a feature extra role in STATESIDE, starring Carrie Fisher, Val Kilmer, Joe Mantegna, Ed Begley, Jr.. Had a role as a Russian Guard. From 2001-06 played police officers, father figures basketball caoches on the t.v. series ONE TREE HILL and NBC'S Sci-fi series SURFACE.While doing this I took two acting classes a week in Wilmington at different locations knowing there was life beyond being an extra. Hard work soon paid off as I landed a co-starring role in BLACKWOOD IN 2007 attaining my first film credit.
After a divorce in 2008 I came back to Kentucky thinking my career was over...but it was just starting! A lead role in FISH HOOK as U.S. Sen. Jack Kennedy came about all shot on loaction in N.Carolina. Currently, MOVING MOUNTAINS shot entirely on location throughout W.Va., in 2013 and now readt to be released in 2015. I play the bad guy against acclaimed film actreess, Theresa Russell, (BLACK WIDOW, SPIDER MAN #3, THE LAST TYCOON). The longest I stayed on screen by the way. The Johnson County Library has two copies that cane be checked out to view. Next this month Feb. 20th I play the character of Henry St. George Tucker Carmichael, a blue blood transplant who leaves Washington & Lee University in Va., to move to Western Kentucky and buy a rock quarry. In 1925 he leads his workers in a heroic rescue attempt of trapped caev explorer, Floyd Collins. This movie will premiere at Sipp Cinema and Georgetown, Ky, before moving on to KET and PBS IN 2015 and to other venues. Catch a good docu-drama here as we also have local Paintsville and Johnson County actors in the movie and it was shot on loaction at Flat Gap, Mt. Home Place, Van Lear and Paintsville.
