| About Me | A lot has happened (or hasn't happened) since graduation day 1974. In the fall of 1974 I enrolled at San Bernardino Valley College, majoring in Architecture. Then in the spring semester I changed my major to music. During this time I also took a course in computer science, and later became one of the Comp Sci lab assistants for Mr. Henry James. I studied Architecture with Mr. David Hatfield (rest his soul, he passed away in 2004) and assisted him with building his own house on the hill top. Russell Baldwin and Paul Oxley were two important Music Professors of mine. I spent three years in the SBVC Jazz Ensemble playing piano. In Fall 1977 I continued my music studies at San Diego State University. Jean Moe and Merle Hogg were two important instructors. I studied composition for five years with Dr. David Ward-Steinman, who later made me his official music copyist (1982-1986). I still keep in touch with him. I graduated from SDSU in 1982 with my B.A. in music. After that I went back home to San Bernardino where I divided my time doing freelance music copying, helping my dad in his stucco business, and starting a fledgling pastel portrait and painting business. In 1984 I joined the Orange Belt Musicians' Union, which got me a gig composing songs for two musical plays, one of which was performed at a Riverside dinner theatre. In 1987 I acquired a full-time position as a graphic artist at Donnelly Church Publications in Riverside, a position in desktop publishing which lasted until 2002 when the company went under and most of us lost our jobs. My main duties were compositing the ads on the backs of church bulletins using a Macintosh computer. After the layoff, I continued doing my artwork and began selling it on eBay, under the screen name ernesto1956. I have been doing it ever since. In January 1997 (the same year that Dad passed away) I moved to Loma Linda, CA and have been here now for thirteen years. I have recently begun to write more music, now utilizing computer softwa...(read more) |
