About | Funeral services for Mrs. Melanie "Minie" Hamlin Gurley, 46, of Weaver, will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, November 15, 2010, at K.L. Brown Memory Chapel in Golden Springs with the Reverend Dr. Mike Holcomb officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 - 9 p.m. on Sunday evening at the funeral home. Mrs. Gurley passed away November 11, 2010 at Brookwood Medical Center in Birmingham. Mrs. Gurley was a graduate of the Registered Nursing program at Gadsden State Community College and had been a Registered Nurse at Stringfellow Memorial Hospital in Anniston for the past 18 years. She was a Baptist by faith. She was a loving mother and will be remembered by her family and friends for her sense of humor. She loved the beach and devoted her life to helping others and loving her family. Mrs. Gurley is preceded in death by her parents, Shelton Gray Hamlin and Penny Hamlin Bowen. Mrs. Gurley is survived by her husband, Rodney L. Gurley, of Weaver; a son, Adam Gray Gurley and wife, Emily, of Chattanooga, Tenn.; a daughter, Beth Gurley, of Weaver; sister, Angie Medders and husband, Brian, of White Plains; a brother, Mark Pate, of Abel; nieces, Holly Medders and Casey (Lucy) Medders; and nephews, Sam Pate, Trent Pate, and Justin Pate. Pallbearers will be Lee Gurley, Russell Gurley, Roger Gurley, Tim Pate, Jeff McCord, Brock Pate, and Thomas and Andrew Shelton.
