About Event

Dear Classmates,
Plans are finally coming together for our 50th Reunion with a fun packed weekend.
Alumni Weekend will kick off with an “All Alumni” Friday night mixer on July 24 from 6:00 pm – 1:00 am sponsored by the American Legion featuring a DJ, food, and beverage. The event will be held behind the Legion in the Parking Lot This is a fun event attended by many Alumni and is a great way to start the weekend.
Saturday, July 25 from 9:30 am – 11:00 am a tour of the Middle School, High School and Primary School has been scheduled. If you haven’t been back in a long time, you will be impressed with the many updates to the Middle School. You will enjoy walking the halls of the High School and Primary School a vast difference from our “old” High School. If you are interested in the tour, be at the Middle School at 9:30 am.
If the tour is of no interest, you may want to wander downtown to the “Farmer’s Market” to mingle and chat with the local people and admire the fresh foods along with many arts and crafts. The market opens at 9:00 am.
Saturday, July 25 from 12:00 – 3:30 pm, the Class of 65 will gather for lunch at Fred’s Inn for our personal 50th celebration which includes good conversation, smorgasbord, and a program focused on our high school years.
Saturday, July 25 from 7:00 pm – 12:00 midnight, the Classes of 64, 65, 66 and 67 are hosting a night of fun at the Oxford Fire Station. A variety of snacks, beverages (Beer-Wine-Mixed Drinks-Soda-Coffee) will be available. Tunes “R” Us will spin our favorite songs from the 50’s and 60’s from 8:00 – 12:00. PLEASE NOTE: DINNER WILL NOT BE PROVIDED AT THIS EVENT. Those in other classes who wish to join us will be charged $10.00/person at the bar to cover all entertainment and beverages. Dancing the night away (or trying), reminiscing and just enjoying yourself with your classmates and the rest of the Oxford Alumni is a wonderful way to wrap up your Saturday night. You will be amazed on how many people you will know.

Hello Classmates of 65,
What a great reunion. OUR HIGHLIGHT OF THE WEEKEND: We were greatly blessed to have Carolyn Dawson Johns, our exchange student from Australia with her sister Julie join us to celebrate our 50th.
Steve Behe agreed to the task as our emcee and he did a fabulous job starting our event with a social hour Fred’s Inn with his warm up jokes. He then successfully got everyone quiet (that’s what I call a good emcee) and ask us to introduce ourselves and guests. I think Susan Buffalo Burdick got the biggest laugh when she introduced herself. She can explain why!!!!! For the first time we had the pleasure of having Alice Wall Pollock at the reunion (you had a good time didn’t you Alice). We started our video (which everyone received a copy) and proceeded to get our food -- the conversation never stopped. After munching on a fantastic buffet, Steve asked us to take a moment of silence for those who have left us.
Anna Whittaker Stark took over from there with the next activity by sharing a memory and had us all in stitches. After Anna’s memory we were entertained by many others revealing their secrets. There was so much laughter I think maybe there were some wet pants. Then we had a trivia quiz. What fun that was. It is amazing on what you can remember once your memory is tweeked. We ended the afternoon with a drawing of gifts which created more laughter. Once we started to depart we bid farewell to the ones who could not make the evening event and went our separate ways just to meet up again at the fire station.
The evening started out with more good conversation and eats with our fellow classmate and the classes of 64, 66, and 67. It is amazing how much we can talk. The place was buzzing. After 8:00 pm we opened the event up for all alumni. Lots of fun and lots of good people. The music started and just like high school no one started to dance until much later. Of course the women were the main attraction. Once the men “loosened” up we saw a few more on the dance floor. The class of ’65 provided entertainment by forming a snake and danced around the room to Hot Hot Hot. Don and Sandy Beckwith ripped up the dance floor all night long. They should have been crowned King and Queen. This weekend will be forever embedded in our minds. I am sure I forgot something but at least I got the highlights.
Pictures were taken by Bob Shimer and will be put on FB as soon as I receive them.
Thank you all for a wonderful unforgettable time.
