So, Brad.......Emerson Grade School K-6, then I was gone. Sr. Year, back at Owosso again. Then, one short chat on a stretch of empty stands during a 1980 Michigan State Football game. He was always kind, sensitive and not cocky, actually good friends as children. He could have easily been cocky with his athletic prowess.....but no. Gone too soon in 2009. Much, much later after I saw him at MSU that day, I was living in the Blue Ridge Mountains and visiting a friend of my husband's in 2006. Somehow we started talking about Michigan sports, and Brad's name came up. I casually mentioned, oh, I know him from school. He said 'WHAT!?!?!, you went to school with Brad VanPelt!?!' That was such a funny moment. For me, it was 'Brad'. For him, it was 'could I just touch you?'. We never know the impact we have.......I guess Brad probably knew it. Makes you wonder, have you impacted someone like that?
