Mickey Baker Fictional Sports Series

Based on growing up in northwestern Pennsylvania, the three book series about star athlete, Mickey Baker and his rural friends and teammates is now available. The three books, "Championship Expectations," "Playoff Run" and "The Comeback Kid" are available on Amazon, the Tate Publishing website and Jim's website, JimPransky.tateauthor.com. O-E grads will be able to detect some references to our school, locations and some of our rival communities in these fictional tales. Contact Jim at jpransky@raysbaseball.com for a special discount for all O-E graduates and personnel. Enjoyable reads for all ages. A dual biography that feature's Port Allegany's Major League pitcher, Josh Kinney is also available, "Josh and Josh: Small Towns and Big Leagues" This story features Josh's climb from his start in Roulette, playing H.S. ball at Oswayo Valley, college baseball at Quincy University (Il.) and all the way to pitching in the 2006 World Series for the Cardinals. An inspirational read about a local athlete.

Fictional Sports Series Now Available

Book 3 ("The Comeback Kid") in the Mickey Baker sports series will be available on the Tate Publishing website and also on JimPransky.tateauthor.com.This book follows "Championship Expectations" and "Playoff Run." O-E alums will certainly see the parallels between some of the characters and locations and many of our teenage memories. The stories take place in a rural northwestern Pennsylvania area and details the challenges of athletic competition and life's challenges. I also have written "Josh and Josh: Small Towns, Big Leagues," a dual biography with one of the ML players being Port Allegany's Josh Kinney. Port Allegany, Coudersport, Roulette, Shinglehouse and several other towns in the O-E area are mentioned in this story. The Mickey Baker series was written for young readers, but I've found that adults have enjoyed it also. Please feel free to contact me at jpransky@raysbaseball.com if you'd like more information. Best wishes to all alums.

"Championship Expectations"

I have just had a fictional/baseball story published. It can be found on Amazon, Tate Publishing or on my own website, JimPransky.tateauthor.com. The story takes place in a rural northwestern small town and although it is fiction, if you are an O-E graduate you'll probably pick out several of the geographic locations and some of the descriptions of the area. This book is book one of a series that follows a group of friends/ teammates that have grown up together and experienced a lot of success on and off the field. They are not without conflict, but problems are resolved and the team's camaraderie holds. This is a book for young readers, but I think adults can enjoy it also, especially if you grew up where we all did. Hope you get an opportunity to check it out in the future. Best wishes to everyone, Jim Pransky '73
