Previous assignments have included Tripler AMC, HI, 75th Ranger Regiment, GA, 6th Ranger Training Battalion, Eglin AFB, FL 2 Combat Tours in Afghanistan and 3 in Iraq.

Graduated college in 1968 with commission in army reserves as an infantry lieutenant. Served a year in combat in Vietnam. Returned and spent next five years in the reserves. Then returned to the reserves as a Chaplain in 1983 then retired in 2004 as a Lieutenant Colonel.
