| About Me | After Graduation i went to live with my real father in Belleville ILL (most of you know me as Butch Townsend (Roland Townsend of Townsends Pharmacy is my stepfather. While attending Jr. college I was elected to the school senate then at the State National Convention was elected as 1st Vice President of the Illinois Association of Junior colleges. LOL i made a bet with two classmates that went to the National Converntion in Chicago that in three days i could become the first VP or VP of the Association. which i did. LOL I loved the politics and wish life would have moved me more in that direction. I did not return to officially assume the position the following year as i was in love and wanted to return to Florida. Just think if love didnt get in the way, I could have been the guy from Chicago that lives in the big white house. LOL . In 1972 Enlisted in the Florida National Guard Special Forces Unit in Jacksonville. Atttended Training and returned, transfered to An Artillery Unit. In 1975 Married my high school sweetheart Gloria Copeland. 1976 Accepted to Officer Candidate School completed in 1977. 1977 graduated from the Infantry Officers Course in Ft. Benning Ga. 1978 graduated from the Army Special Forces Officer Course at Fort Bragg, NC. In 1979 accepted for Active Duty position as Operations and Training Officer and attached back to Florida National Guard unit 2 Battalion 116th Field Artillery Unit in Lakeland, Florida. 1980 Graduated from the Army Artillery Officers Course at Ft. Sill, OK, working during the day and going to school at night I completed my Bachlors Degree and was promoted to Captain and given command of the HQ's Battery of the Battalion becoming the first Active Duty Officer in Florida to command a National Guard Unit (Washington had to agree to it) However, when the unit was called out for a State Emergency i was not allowed to command my unit in the field for a State Hurricaine Emergency but had to command them from at the Unit HQ;s through my Executive Officer. It was funny given command but not allowed to command the unit in a State Emergency as an Active Duty Officer. LOL In 1982 after 7 years of marriage Gloria and I divorced (biggest mistake of my life). During my term with the Florida Guard and Active Duty traveled to Panama Canal on several occasions including going through Jungle Expert training. Also, awarded Senior Jump Wings, Jumpmaster, Scuba Diving, Expert Marksmen, Hand Genade, explosives, (Also when enlisted i was a Sargeant and Special Forces Medic. on a A-Team from 1973 to . Officer from 1977 through 1987. During my Military tenure i recieved 2 Army Achievement Medals, and others, and attended and awarded numerous certificates for various courses (over 40). In 1986 served as a Special Forces A-Team Commander and then in 1987 after remarrying, I had a baby daughter that was born so i left the military behind. All i wanted to do was Special Forces and felt my daughter was more important then me taking chances. In 1987 I purchased a Business and Medical Management Company grew it over 600% to a 800k company. Sold it in 1991. Became a Regional Director of South West for a National Medical Management Company with my Office in Dallas Texas. After a year traveling to 4 states Monday through Friday i found myself divorced again and resigned and moved back to West Palm Beach to be near my daugther. Went to work for various Medical Practices as Administrator and Director of Physician Management Services for a Two Hospital Health Care Center in Palm Beach County. I need all this through the 90's and too 2004. In 2005 my father had a stroke so i had to move him from Lakeland to Palm Beach and put him in a Skilled Nursing Facility. So, I would be close to him, I left the Medical Field and started working for Jos. A. Bank Men's clothiers In Palm Beach Gardens Florida. He died in November 2007 but i stayed with Jos. A. Bank not having too many financial concerns but taking care of family business and property I inherited from my father. In 2010 I became the Store Manager for Jos. A. Bank store in Boynton Beach, Florida. Retail is fun, less stress also less money lol but i enjoy it and I also remarried in June 2008 to a nurse who was taking care of my dad for the couple of years he was in the SNF. That is a brief overview of my life since 1971 and graduation. Now i just work and try to enjoy life and trying to hold on to property in this Florida Market which is really bad here in Palm Beach County. Also had over 50k in Coins ...(read more) |
