Chris Haney, an alumnus of Orange County High School in Orange, Virginia, is a notable figure in the Major League Baseball world, born on November 16, 1968, in Baltimore, Maryland. As a left-handed pitcher, Haney made a significant impact in the field throughout his career. He began his professional journey with the Montreal Expos, making his debut on June 21, 1990.

Over the span of his career, he also played for the Kansas City Royals, Chicago Cubs, Cleveland Indians, Fukuoka Daiei Hawks, and finally the Boston Red Sox. His last appearance was on August 18, 2002, for the Boston Red Sox. His MLB statistics are impressive with a win-loss record of 38-52, an earned run average of 5.07, and 442 strikeouts.

Before entering the professional world, Haney showcased remarkable performance in his college years as well. He pitched for the Charlotte 49ers and was selected for the All-Sun Belt in 1989 and 1990, setting a program record with 20 complete games. Haney was then drafted by the Montreal Expos in the second round of the 1990 Major League Baseball draft.

Interestingly, baseball runs in the Haney family. His father, Larry Haney, was a former catcher, and his son, Jacob, also followed in his footsteps, pitching from 2017-2022 at the College of William & Mary.

After retiring from baseball, Haney returned to his hometown, Orange, Virginia. However, he made a brief return to MLB in 2002 and played for the Red Sox, making 24 appearances, all in relief, and even managed to claim his one and only career save against the Tigers on June 5, 2002.
