About Me	Check out our daughter's facebook site, "Impressions of Nature." She makes some awesome yard art (bird baths, etc.). HERB: Born in Brittingham's Nursing Home in Ontario, OR 2/3/45 (hospital was too full); my dad owned a livestock ranch at Jamieson, OR, to age 3, then bought a farm at Willowcreek, OR; lived in Willowcreek area until age 8. Moved to Ontario for 3rd Grade @ Lindbergh; moved to Ironside, OR, for 4th & 5th Grades (Dad bought a logging truck); started 6th Grade in Baker (about a month), & moved to La Grande, OR, to complete 6th Grade & 7th Grades; moved to Boise, ID, for 8th & 9th Grade @ West Junior High, 10th & 11th Grade @ Borah High; moved back to Ontario (Dad purchased a farm) for my Senior year. Went to Oregon Tech (now OIT) in 1963-64, stayed home 1964-65 to farm & milk cows while Dad was recovering from a farm accident (lost an arm in a corn chopper), then resumed Civil Enginering classes at OTI 1965-67 (Assoc Degrees in Bridge Design, Highway Design & Surveying). Began working for Oregon DOT in Summer of 1966 as an Engineering Trainee in the Ontario Office, and worked full-time with ODOT from 1967 to 1995, in Pendleton, LaGrande, Pendleton (construction inspector), LaGrande (1st full-time Regional Bridge Inspector in Oregon, appointed 1972) and Ontario (Asst. Project Mgr for 2 years & Construction Project Mgr for 10 years in Ontario). Went to work for David Evans & Assoc (Consulting Engineering firm in Salem, OR) in 1996, as Senior Construction Project Manager & Construction Engineering Mgr; retired Feb. 11, 2011. Started Herb Shaw Consulting, Inc, in March, 2011; check out my website, www.herbshawconsulting.com . Married Joan Dewey (Ontario) in Winnemucca, NV, on 8/30/68; 4 children (Dan in Illinios, Sam in Colorado, Loni and Ron in Idaho); 10 grandchildren (7 girls and 3 boys) and 1 great grandson. Some of my "hobbies" have been: licensed racehorse jockey at 16; drag racer at 23 (1968 Dodge Coronet R/T, D-stock Automatic); stockcar driver & flagger at 26; Saved at age 32; Union, OR, City Councilman/Water Commissioner & Police Commssioner age 34-38; remodeling contractor at age 47. I still enjoy hunting, spending time with my wife, kids and grands, and vacationing on the Oregon Coast. JOAN: Born in Holy Rosary Hospital, Ontario, OR, 12/23/44.
