STUART STRAYER
Class of 1967
Stuart Strayer is a Distinguished Alumni, through his life long devotion to his law enforcement career. He recently retired from Western Michigan University, in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Having served for over 40 years in various law enforcement capacities.
In 1974, Stuart received extensive media coverage, for an incident in Van Buren County, Michigan. Despite receiving extensive gunfire, by a fleeing suspect in a vehicle, he
continued his pursuit for several miles. This police chase began in Van Buren County, and continued into Berrien County, Michigan. Stuart's courage and determination, eventually led to the capture of this suspect. Stuart was injured in an initial physical confrontation, with the suspect, but still unrelentingly pursued and assisted in capturing the suspect. Stuart Strayer is a living legend, in the law enforcement field, in Southwest Michigan.
