About	John R. Whitten, 72, passed away peacefully on December 24th at his home in Dennis with his loving wife of 50 years, Carol (Bena) Whitten, by his side. The son of Earl and Marion (Oldham) Whitten, John was born in Stoughton and raised in Easton, Massachusetts. After graduating from Oliver Ames High School with the class of 1963, John joined his beloved father as a salesman in the plumbing supply industry. After the death of his father, John moved his young family to Cape Cod where he brought his talent in sales to the French Shriner Company and later appeased his love for the outdoors by starting Whitten Landscaping and JW Tree Service. Upon retirement, John traveled to warm climates visiting Aruba, the Caribbean islands, California, and Florida. In summer months, his laugh was often heard by the golfers at King’s Way Golf Club in Yarmouth Port or through the T-tops of his prized Trans-Am. Over more than forty years living on Cape Cod, John made many friends through his businesses, bowling, poker nights, and golfing. Along with his devoted wife, John is survived by his son, Craig Whitten, with wife, Nicole, of Yarmouth Port and his daughter Kimberly Wilson with husband, Kenneth, of Vero Beach, Florida. He also leaves three grandchildren, Brooke and Bethany Whitten of Yarmouth Port and Chloe Wilson of Vero Beach, along with his sister, Joyce Herbert of Suffolk, Virginia, and several cherished sibling-in-laws, nieces, & nephews.
