| About Me | I married my high school sweetheart, Michelle, in 1997. We currently live in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in northern Virginia, where we're raising two beautiful daughters. My work on crises such as Kosovo, Iraq, and Afghanistan has taken me around the world -- throughout North America, Western Europe, the Balkans, the Middle East, South- and East Asia, "Down Under" to Australia and New Zealand, above the Arctic Circle. I've had some very interesting (and even odd) experiences: worked with senior officials in the White House, State Dept, Pentagon, and Congress; rode (very uncomfortably) in a Russian tank; flew on a WWII B-17; walked the flight deck of an active-duty aircraft carrier; drove an armored personnel carrier; saw an RPG strike, a flamethrower fire, and IEDs and a "molotov cocktail" explode...all in relatively close proximity; circumnavigated the globe in under 14 days; received a standing ovation from Holocaust survivors; awarded Teacher of the Year; received a personalized message and autograph from Jim Parsons (of &quo...(read more) |
