About Me	My precious mother, Evelyn Elaine Cates, passed from this world to her heavenly home in 2017. She was surrounded by her loving family who were genuinely heartbroken by her passing. Throughout her life she continued to be a perfect example of the Proverbs 31 woman-she was a skilled secretary, an active member of her church, where she served as Sunday School Secretary and as a youth leader. Her most important job, however, was being the best mom and grandmother this world has ever seen. She encouraged my sister and me to become elementary school teachers and helped us each year as we prepared our classrooms. She continued to sew custom outfits for us and she was a phenomenal cook. Her greatest joy, however was spoiling her beloved grandson, Cody Eldridge. He was the joy of her life and she was the world’s best grandmother to him. His decision to become a neurosurgeon was based on his seeing her struggle after she suffered a brain aneurysm. Her legacy will live on with every patient he helps. Mom never forgot Okemah and her high school friends. Some of her happiest days near the end of her life were spent looking back through her high school annual.
