Rev. Don Meece

Class of 1960

It is not always God's will for all to retire at 65 or some earlier. As my wife and I approached our Golden Years with plans to travel and see the USA we made plans to purchase an RV, purchased camp ground passes and were all set. In 2005 we were approved as USMAPS missionaries for the Assemblies of God Home Missions department from Springfield, Missouri.
In December 2005 we went to New Mexico to work with the Navajo Indians and after a year begin again to persue our dream to travel, but in 2007 we were called from Global University to be a resident Professor, where we were for almost 3 years. In Nov 2009 all things were put in motion for us to come to Hawaii and work with Hawaii District Assemblies of God to start a college. We arrived April 2010, since that time we have experienced the thrills, joys, blessings, and sometimes nightmares of starting an institution of higher education from scratch. God has guided us and led us and this fall, Septermber 12, 2011, we begin offering undergraduate classes. We currently have 3 students, but are expecting more in January and up to 10 more fall semester 2012.
I am constantly telling my wife Nancy, "had I known all the expectations and paperwork, plus working with a Board of Directors, I might have prayed a little harder before agreeing." The first 18 months we were provided housing, utilities and telephone. Now we have opted to provide our own housing until such time the funds at the college are able to provide our housing again. We have ministerial training courses that provide a sound basis of financial support for the college.
Pray with us we have raised $1,000.00 and we need to raise $9,000.00 more for scholarships and instructor expenses. When we have raised the $10,000.00 we have a donor who will match the $10,000.00 to give us ample scholarship funding for two years.
We have been blessed by donations for initial promotions, website sponsorship, and the necessary supplies and equipment to set up offices and the appropriate forms and funds for actual incorporation and establishment. we invite all to check out our website and pray for us. We are reaching the Islands of Hawaii and are planning to continue to werve as long as God desires we stay here in Hawaii.
Don't ask how could you think about moving elsewhere? We have 22 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren in Texas, Oklahoma, and Washington, so we would love to be closer to them.
However, for right now we will stay here and continue as President of Hawaii Christian College and missionaries for the Assemblies of God.
Any one desiring to make donations to the college may do so by sending your checks to Hawaii Christian College- mark your donations matching funds for scholarships. We are a 501 (c) (3), and we will send receipts because all contributions are deductible as of this date.
