Keith Timmel
Class of 1978
Being on year older than the person I'd like to nominate, I , Paul Trimmer, class of 1977, was a teammate of Keith Timmel from the time Keith joined the OHS Wrestling program until Keith was a junior. For two of those years Keith and I were wrestling and competing in the same weight class and always fighting for the Varsity position. Keith would be the first to admit that I always managed to beat him out for the opening of the 98 or 105 pound Varsity position in the 98 lb and 105 lb weight classes. But in Keith's senior year of wrestling in 1978, a year after I graduated, Keith went on to become Oconomowoc's first ever undefeated State Champion for OHS at the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association State High School Wrestling Tournament. One must remember that Keith won thits Championship at a time when there were no divisions of Wisconsin High Schools. In other words, Keith was an undefeated State Champion at a time when there was no Class A, Class B, Class C and so on, and at a time that when regionals, sectionals and state tournaments would come up all area schools regardless of size, competed against each other. Keith performed nothing short or nothing less than an amazing feet. He put Oconmowoc on the map and made OHS known as a winning team with skilled, powerful, strong, and muscular teams. One could arguably say, that Keith Timmel put the cherry on Hall of Famer, Former Oconomowoc head wrestling coach Gale Douglas's career.
Not only was Keith an undeafeted high school wrestling champion, he went on to win a collegiate Championship and become the number one wrestling wrestler in the nation in his collegiate division.
I'm sure you'll find that not only did Keith excel in academics on the high school and college level, he now is a talented tradesman and businessman.
Do the research yourself and you'll find even more amazing feats about this future HOFer's life.
