Matt died in the dark, early morning hours of Saturday, Jan. 12, 2002, in his basement bedroom at his parent's home, of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was beginning the last semester of his senior year. In the seemingly bleak, dark, early morning hour of 2 a.m., he thought that he was all alone; yet a world of people loved him.
