Louis bravely battled cancer during the last 5 years of his life. We were friends at Nova High, but became closer after graduating from high school and college. His field of study was languages but was also studying for the priesthood after college. I got to know his parents a little, the entire family became special to me. I miss him, he was a good friend, which is rare to have.

Louis had a great sense of humor and used his proficiency in foreign languages to make the episode even more funny. He could say outrageous remarks or make up conversations, but say it in, for example, Italian, so it seemed less offensive because most of us were not exactly certain what he meant. But he would crack us up, which gave him positive reinforcement. He enjoyed making people laugh.
