Andrew Amyot presiding. Burial will be held in the Calvary Cemetery, Norwood, following the services. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Norwood on Friday, June 26, 2026 from 4-7 p.m.? Deanna, known fondly as Dee-Dee, Wendy, or "Mom", passed away on June 9, 2026 with family at her side, at the GreenField Health and Rehabilitation Center, Lancaster, NY, after a brief stay. Born on December 27, 1944, in Potsdam, NY, to the late Marion and Kenneth Bresee, Deanna lived a beautifully full life, not because she chased the attention, but because she filled every room she entered with warmth, laughter, and love.
Deanna graduated from Norwood-Norfolk Central School, and on July 15, 1967, she married the love of her life, John "Pat" McGinnis. Together they built a life centered around family, friendship, and community. For most of her years, Deanna was a devoted stay-at-home mother who never missed one of her kids' ice hockey, soccer, or softball games. She was an enthusiastic cheerleader in the stands and the steadiest presence at home. As her children grew older, she worked on and off at Perry's Big M Grocery store, The Century House Restaurant and the Norfolk National Bank, but her greatest pride was always being a mom.? If you knew Deanna, you knew her laugh. It was infectious, the kind that filled a room and made you want to be in on whatever she found so funny. She was a great friend to everyone, bringing positive energy and genuine kindness wherever she went. Deanna never sought the spotlight. She found profound joy in life's simple moments, whether that was a card game with friends, volunteering with the American Legion Women's Auxiliary, a night out bowling with women's league, playing games on her computer, watching a good hockey or football game, or simply enjoying an evening out with Pat and their closest friends. She was deeply dedicated to her family and friends, and that dedication never wavered.
Her proudest achievements were her three children and nine grandchildren. She would tell you that in a heartbeat. Deanna is survived by her beloved husband of 59 years, Pat; her daughter Kelly Bird (Charlie); her daughter Tammy Wanner (Matt); her son John McGinnis (Heather) and her 9 Grandchildren; Terra, Jacob, Meghan, Ally, Alex, Jordyn, Jayde, Cadence and Leah. She is also survived by her sister and best friend, Dorothy Gately and many Nieces and Nephews who she cherished immensely. She was preceded in death by her parents Ken and Marion; her brothers Lloyd "Red" Bresee, Charles Ferguson, Edward Ferguson and Harold Gardner; and her sisters Frances "Petty" Hazen, Peany Mercer, and Polly Vigue.? As the saying goes, "When the soul is ready, the path appears." Deanna's path was one of love, laughter, and a life beautifully lived. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Memorial donations in Deanna's memory can be made to the Norwood Fire Department or to the Norwood American Legion and memories and condolences may be shared online at www.buckfuneralhome.com? . The Buck Funeral Home in Norwood is serving the family of Deanna Lee McGinnis.
