NORFOLK – Donald H. LaBarge "Fiddlin Don", 91, passed away Monday, January 19, 2026 under the care of Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley.
Don proudly served his country in the US Air Force and Navy from 1957 until his honorable discharge in 1961. Don worked for UPS, being one of the original team members that started the Potsdam distribution hub. He cherished the friendships he made over the years and enjoyed meeting his retirement buddies for coffee at the Hometown Diner in Norwood. He also had a great love for music – especially playing the fiddle in many local bands.
Don is survived by his children, Melanie (Michael) Regan of Colton and Donald W. (Gabrielle) LaBarge of Canton; his grandchildren, Thor (Emily) Merrill and Logan Felske; his great granddaughter, Ilah Jane Merrill; his step grandsons, Mike Regan and Jake Regan (Katie Ames), a step great granddaughter, Brooke Regan; and many nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, Charles and Cora (Steemburg) LaBarge, he was predeceased by a son, Darren J. LaBarge and his siblings, Hilda Herne, Lawrence, Harlin, and Hubert "Pete" LaBarge.
At his request, there will be no services. Arrangements are under the care and guidance of the Donaldson-Seymour Funeral Home, Potsdam, where friends may share memories and offer condolences online at www.donaldsonseymour.com.
