It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Iva Wayman, 81 of Sissonville. She passed away on July 21st, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Iva was born on November 2nd, 1943, at the Canton Village Hospital to the late Earl Cook and Kathryn Alexander- Cook. Iva attended Norwood Norfolk Central School. She went on to marry Harold “Sunny” Ling in 1962. Of that marriage was born Jamie Ling and Kelly (Ling) McGregor. This marriage ended in divorce after 25 years. In 1999, Iva married Robert Wayman. They were married until his death in 2004.
Iva worked for SUNY Potsdam as a custodian for 33 years. She retired in 2006. She was also a volunteer member of the Unionville Fire Department. In her retirement, Iva enjoyed crocheting, old westerns, soap operas, and taking care of her yard. Most of all, Iva loved spending time out on her deck with her family and her beloved pets Bella and Smokey.
Iva is survived by her daughter Kelly (Todd McGregor), granddaughter Becky (James Joslin), grandson Michael Labaff (Hillary Gilson), grandson Chad Ling (Nicki), and granddaughters Amber Ling and Crystal Ling. She is also survived by her niece Jennifer Cook, and nephew Earl Cook Jr along with many other nieces, nephews, and great grandchildren.
Iva was predeceased by her husband Robert Wayman, her ex-husband Harold Ling, brother Earl Cook, sister Kathryn Graton, son Jamie Ling, daughter Debbie, and grandson Kenny LaBaff.
Services will be held at Garner’s Funeral Home on Friday July 25th, 2025. Calling hours will be held from 12-2 with the services immediately after. Burial will be held at Hale’s cemetery in Norfolk. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Iva’s name to the Potsdam Animal Shelter or Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley.

Iva and I were friends growing up I’m sorry to hear of her passing. Her mom and dad were hard-working. I remember the family well.
