Lloyd G. Howe, 77, Hannawa Falls, died Thursday at Canton-Potsdam Hospital, Potsdam.

Mr. Howe was a teacher. He did his practice teaching at Canton Central School and taught at Norwood-Norfolk Central School, where he also was the audiovisual director. While employed at Norwood-Norfolk, he began a career with WPDM Radio in Potsdam as the station engineer and an announcer. He also owned and operated Radio Television International, a company that designed and produced computerized operational program systems for radio and TV stations. These programs have been used in several countries.

Born Feb. 23, 1930, in Broadalbin, son of Lloyd Chester and Elsie Tomlinson Howe, he graduated from Broadalbin High School and received a bachelor of arts degree in English from Potsdam State Teachers College. He earned a master's degree in education from St. Lawrence University, Canton, where he constructed the university's radio tower while attending classes. He served for several years in the National Guard, enlisting in 1948.

He married Marjorie L. Bradt Noake on June 24, 1950, in Gloversville.

Mr. Howe enjoyed performing magic as "Bummer, the Clown" for many years, and also was a drummer in the John Cody Dance Band, performing regularly at the Crossroads Restaurant in Moira. He wrote and produced a language teaching program called "Madame, Merci et Mou," still used today in many schools around the country.

Surviving besides his wife are two sons and their wives, Lloyd G. II and Lynn, Hannawa Falls, and Scott and Chris, North Syracuse; three daughters and their husbands, Connie and Resart Watson, Phoenix, Ariz., Beth and Robert Rogers, Baldwinsville, and Lynn and Joseph Primicias, Mayfield, Ky.; a foster son and his wife, James and Cheryl Countryman, Hannawa Falls; a sister, Lloydrea Darling, Broadalbin, 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Two sisters, Geraldine and Virginia Gibson, and a grandchild died before him.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Seymour Funeral Home, Potsdam, with the Rev. Patricia LaVine, rector of Zion Episcopal Church, Colton, officiating.

Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
