Theodore S. Wodzinski Obituary
Ted Wodzinski, 79, passed away suddenly on February 23, 2011 in Destin, Florida. Ted and his wife Barbara have spent several months a year in Florida for twenty years but have resided in northern New York for thirty four years. Ted was born in Stambaugh, Michigan on December 2, 1931 to Harriet and Joseph Wodzinski. He was preceded in death by his brothers Zigmund, Matthew, Edmund, and Alfred, and sisters Loretta, Lucille, Delores, Irene and Jessie. Survivors include a brother, Eugene of Stambaugh, Michigan and a sister, Sr. Jeanette Wodzinski, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Ted was the father of Christopher Wodzinski of Trumansburg, New York, Joseph Wodzinski of Arlington, Virginia, and Daniel Wodzinski of Niagara Falls, New York, Mark Scarupa of Columbia, Maryland, Susan Nichols of Washingtonville, New York, and David Scarupa of Kennedy, New York. Ted was adored by his nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren and was the beloved uncle of numerous nieces and nephews.
Ted attended the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis and graduated from Northern Michigan University at Marquette. He received advanced degrees at the Northern Michigan and the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor and Michigan State University. He served as high school principal, school superintendent and consultant to several school systems in Michigan and Western and Northern New York. He was superintendent at Norwood-Norfolk Central Schools for thirteen years from 1977-1990.
A memorial service will be held at the Resurrection Catholic Church, located at 259 Miramar Beach Dr, in Destin, Florida on Friday, March 4 at 11:00 a.m. A reception following the mass will be held in the parish hall at the Resurrection Chursch. Another memorial mass will be held in Norwood, New York later in the spring.
At the request of the family, memorial contributions in lieu of flowers would be appreciated to a scholarship fund that was established upon Teds retirement in 1990. The scholarship awards monies to BOCES students needing assistance to attend college. Send donations to the Theodore S.
