About Dale Andrew Farrington Obituary
Dale Andrew Farrington, 88, passed away on the morning of Saturday, January 27, 2024.

Dale was born in Potsdam, New York, on October 10, 1935, the son of the late Agnes and Francis Farrington. He graduated from Norwood-Norfolk Central High School. After high school, Dale went to Canton, attending the State University Agricultural and Technical College. He earned a degree in Drafting and Design.

Shortly after, in 1956, Dale was first employed with the Armament Department in Burlington, Vermont, as a drafting detailer. He was awarded two patents for systems within the Multi-barrel weapons, specifically the Gatling gun. The systems within the Gatling gun, lubricated the ammunition making it function smoothly, these systems were created in Burlington and used by troops in Vietnam. In 1962, he met and married Marilyn "Lynn" Muir.

In 1972, after making the move to Mauldin, South Carolina, with his family; Dale worked on larger parts, Gas Turbines for General Electric. In his spare time, he was passionate about coaching girls' basketball for OLR. He also continued his education at night, graduating from Limestone College in 1981 with a B.S. Degree in Management. Dale loved taking Spanish lessons, and in 1999 went to work for G.E. in Mexico for a year with his wife. In 2002, after 46 years with General Electric, he finally decided to retire.

However, retirement did not slow Dale down. He always had many hobbies including gardening, running, golfing, painting with watercolors and drawing in ink. And, he loved a good crossword puzzle.

Dale was preceded in death by both of his sisters Jane Lahair of Victor, New York, Ann McDonald of Flagstaff, Arizona, and brother Lee "Rusty" Farrington of Norwood, New York.

In addition to his wife of 61 years, Marilyn Farrington, Dale is survived by two daughters: Jill Layton (Kent) and Dianne Mercurio (Steve Miller) of Greenville, South Carolina. A son, Jay Farrington (Jenny) of San Rafael, California. Granddaughters: Jordan Day (Dan) of Clemson, SC; Destiny Layton of Spartanburg, SC; Sydney Mercurio of Atlanta, Georgia, and Sienna Mercurio of Tallahassee, Florida. Grandsons include: Hayes Layton of Greenville, SC; Nathan Farrignton and Spencer Farrington both of San Rafael, California. Great Granddaughters are Emma Day and Nora Day of Clemson, SC. As well as many loved nieces and nephews spread across the United States.
