NORFOLK?Funeral services for 76 year old Edward D. Ferguson, 10 East View Heights, Norfolk, will be held Thursday at 11 am at the Church of the Visitation in Norfolk with Rev. Andrew Amyot presiding. A spring burial will be held in Visitation Cemetery, Norfolk. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Norfolk on Wednesday from 3-7 pm. Mr. Ferguson passed away suddenly on Saturday morning. Mr. Ferguson is survived by his wife, Barbara, Norfolk; his two sons, Gregory and Terri Ferguson, Hunt Valley, MD and Brian and Audrey Ferguson, Bethesda, MD; his five grandchildren; three brothers, Charles Ferguson, Parishville; Lloyd ?Red? Bresee, Norfolk; Harold Gardner, Florida and his four sisters, Polly Vigue, Ohio; Peany Mercer, Georgia; Dorothy and Dale LaBarge, Norfolk and Deanna and Pat McGinnis, Norwood. He was pre-deceased by his parents, a Step-father Kenneth Bresee and a sister, Frances ?Petty? Hazen. Born in Lowville, NY on December 4, 1934 to Charles and Marion LaRue, he graduated from Norwood-Norfolk Central School in 1952 and continued his education at Canton College, from which he graduated in 1954. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Goeppingen, Germany with the 9th Infantry Division G2 section as an Intelligence Specialist. He married Barbara Adams on June 25, 1960. He worked as an Assistant Regional Planning Superintendent for Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation, retiring on October 1, 1994 after 38 years of service. He was a charter member if the Northern New York Hockey Officials Association, which was formed in 1952. He served as President and Assignor over a period of ten years in the Association. He also served on the Norfolk Town Board as a Justice/Councilman and then as the Norfolk Town Supervisor from 1976 to 1981. Mr. Ferguson was a member of the American Legion Post 925, Norfolk, a member of the Niagara Mohawk 25 year club, the Norfolk Housing Authority and a past member of the Norfolk Lions Club. Ed was active in the Norfolk Veterans Memorial Parks and many other community activities. Memorial Donations can be made to a charity of one?s choice.
