| About | NORWOOD -- Charles E. Sherman, 73, Route 2, died Monday in Canton-Potsdam Hospital, Potsdam. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Garner Funeral Home, Potsdam, with the Rev. Dennis King, pastor of the Church of the Nazarene, Potsdam, officiating. Spring burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Parishville. Calling hours will be Wednesday afternoon and evening at the funeral home. Surviving are his wife, Alice; four daughters, Mrs. Donald (Ellen) Hoyt, Norwood, Mrs. Anthony (Arlene) Nocerino and Elaine Sherman, both of Norfolk, and Mrs. George (Deborah) Molnar, Fredonia; three grandchildren; two brothers, Edward, Norfolk, and James, Norwood; two sisters, Mildred Powell, Potsdam, and Mary Sherman, Star Lake; and several nephews and nieces. A brother, William, and two sisters, Dorothy Lane and Eleanor Zabrisky, died before him. Born in Norwood on Sept. 21, 1918, a son of George and Lillian Brown Sherman, he was a graduate of Norwood High School. He married Alice Williams on Aug. 18, 1956, at St. Mary's Church, Potsdam, with the Rev. Joseph Dogen officiating. Mr. Sherman served with the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was employed with Potsdam Feed & Coal Co. and later with the Potsdam Central School District as a bus driver until his retirement in September 1983, after 21 years of service. |
