NORWOOD -- Mr. Kevin Patrick Whalen, 25, of 457 County Route 48, Norwood, NY was pronounced dead at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital early Sunday morning September 13, 2009 as a result of an automobile accident on the River Road in Potsdam.
He was born October 28, 1983 in Galveston, Texas, the son of Mary Lou Whalen. Kevin graduated from Nowood-Norfolk Central School in 2002 and SUNY Canton. He worked for Ductman Mechanicals, Norfolk, NY as a welder.
Kevin was a first responder and an assistant fire chief at Norwood Fire Department. He was an All-Northern football player for the Potsdam Sandstoners in 2001. He enjoyed 4 wheeling, snowmobiling, the outdoors and his many friends.
Kevin is survived by his mother, Mary Lou Whalen, Norwood; maternal grandmother, Jean Whalen, Louisville; two uncles, Patrick and Robert Whalen; five aunts, Deborah Panella, Susan Neal, Cathy Whalen-Maxin, Tish Laneuville and Lynn Whalen; and many cousins.
