James M. Blodgett Obituary
James M. Blodgett, 75, of Clifton Park, NY passed away early Monday, March 17, 2025, at Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta, NY. He bravely fought Parkinson's. In the end, he slept soundly without having to worry about daily needs. Just prior to James' death, he was residing at Robinson Terrace Nursing home in Stamford, NY. Mr. Blodgett was born on October 24, 1949, to Roy and Helen (nee Gillette) Blodgett in Saranac Lake, NY.
James loved the Boy Scouts of America from the time he was a young scout with his own mother as den mother, all the way up holding a liaison position, as an adult, earning him a 50 year pin. He graduated from Norwood - Norfolk High School in 1970 with an award for the most books checked out from the school library. Mr. Blodgett also attended St. Lawrence BOCES with skills in Culinary Arts. James' favorite and longest employment was at Harlem Valley Psychiatric Hospital in Wingdale, New York as a cook. After his retirement, he moved to Clifton Park. Mr. Blodgett's "home away from home" was St. George's Episcopal Church located in Clifton Park. James took many bible study courses, attended services, and loved doughnut hour after church. His greatest joy was eating out and watching animated movies with his niece.
James is preceded in death by his parents Roy and Helen Blodgett and his oldest brother Richard Blodgett. James left behind his two brothers and their wives Robert and his wife Phyllis (née Zawitaj) of Malta, NY and William Blodgett and his wife Charlotte Hollinger of Grayson, GA. He also left behind his niece Amanda Blodgett (who he was his best friend in later part of his life.)
Relatives and friends are invited to a calling hour from 12pm to 1pm on Friday, March 21, at Armer Funeral Home, Inc., 39 East High Street, Ballston Spa. A service will be held at 1pm. Burial will follow in the Ballston Spa Cemetery. Memorial contributions in memory of James may be made to St. George's Episcopal Church, 916 Route 146, Clifton Park, NY 12065.
