About | per Donaldson's Obit "NORFOLK - Bruce H. Newcombe, 77, peacefully passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Bruce was born on June 20, 1947 in Potsdam, son of the late Irving and Alice (Miller) Newcombe. He attended Norwood-Norfolk Central School and entered the US Army in 1966 and served in the Vietnam War. He married Linda M. LaMora on May 18, 1968 at the Norfolk Wesleyan Church. Linda predeceased him on July 20, 2020. He was employed at Local #322 and Potsdam State College as an Audio-Visual Technician before finishing his career at Norwood-Norfolk Central School as an Audio-Visual Coordinator. Bruce loved being outdoors, watching Fox News, taking trips to the casino and cherished the time he spent with his family. Most of all, he loved his daily visits from his great-grandsons, Marcus and Grayson. They lit up his world. Bruce is survived by his five daughters and their husbands, Sonya and Donald Speer of Norfolk; Janet and Michael Arquitt of Massena; Kelly and Leslie Coburn of Raymondville; Jennifer and Shawn Benware of Norfolk; and Bobbi Jo and Peter Darabon of Norfolk; his ten grandchildren, Zackery Benware, Lisa Arquitt and Steven Rookey, Jenna and Nathan Jarvis, Molly Coburn and Darren LeBlanc, Nicholas and Nickelle Howard, Bruce and Shannon Arquitt, Sarah Darabon, Natalie Darabon and Daniel Colbert; and his 12 great grandchildren, Montana, Arianna, Grayson, Marcus, Eva, Gracey, Raelynn, Weston, Waylon, Kensley, Jaxson and Luke. Lastly, his two loyal dogs, Copper and Princess. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Dennis Levac Sr. of Chase Mills, sister-in-law Mary Finley of Syracuse, many nieces and nephews, and his best bud Andrew Belknap. In addition to his parents and wife, Bruce was predeceased by two grandchildren, Derek Ober, Jr. and Rebecca Newcombe, his siblings Gloria Levac, Garrison “Gary” Finley, Irving “Leslie” Newcombe and Barry Newcombe, and a nephew Dennis Levac Jr. His daughters extend their gratitude to the Norfolk Volunteer Rescue Squad for always going above and beyond for their family. Friends may call at the Donaldson Funeral Home on Thursday at 1:00 PM until the time of service at 2:30 with Brendon Hardy, officiating. Burial will follow at Bixby Cemetery, Norfolk. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may consider donations in his memory to Norfolk Volunteer Rescue Squad or Norfolk Volunteer Fire Dept." |
