About	per Hammill Obituary Brasher Falls - Leona E. (Blair) Oakes, 84, passed away peacefully March 31, 2025 at RR-Canton Potsdam Hospital. Leona was born on May 9, 1940 in Norfolk, daughter of the late Glenfird T. and Francelia S. (Bemis) Blair. She graduated from Norwood Norfolk High School. She married Roger Oakes on March 21, 1959, at St. Patrick's rectory with Msgr. Herbert Hannan officiating. Roger passed away on August 7, 2016. Leona had traditional family values, with a "whole bunch of nieces and nephews, who they loved dearly as their own." She is survived by one sister, Lila Dibble of Ogdensburg, and her many God Children; Michael Oakes, Brian Ashley, Randy Ashley, Barbara (Oakes) Conklin, Aleida Stark, John Dibble, Jessica (Dibble) Maxfield, Jane (Oakes) LaShombe, Joan (Oakes) Stark, Linda (Oakes) Vice, Larry Oakes, Jr., Sandra (Oakes) Foster and Debra Oakes. Leona was predeceased by her siblings, Lydia Dibble, Lawrence Blair, Lena Ward, Leora Oakes, Loren Blair and Everette Dibble. Her family will receive friends at the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop on Tuesday, from 2 to 4 pm. A Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick Church in Brasher Falls on Wednesday at 11 am with burial in the parish cemetery.
