About per obit
"Vincent George Mellon passed away on December 17, 2024, at the age of 78. Born on May 4, 1946, in Norwood, NY, he spent his life dedicated to education, community service, and family. Vince resided in Oneida, NY, where he leaves behind a legacy of kindness and mentorship.

Vince was a dedicated physics teacher at Camden High School for nearly 40 years, where he served as the head of the science department. His commitment to education extended beyond the classroom; he was the senior class advisor where he planned graduations and proms, coached high school tennis, cross country, and track and field, as well as his children's soccer, baseball, and tee-ball teams. His passion for sports was matched only by his love for running, having completed multiple marathons, including the prestigious Boston Marathon at the age of 50.

A devoted husband to Linda Mellon for 46 years, Vince shared a life filled with adventure, including travels through Europe and the West Coast. Together, they opened their home to many foreign exchange students from around the world, fostering cultural exchange and lifelong friendships. Vince was an active member of the Rotary Club for many years, where he oversaw the foreign exchange program and contributed to his community. Vince was a cherished member of the Catholic Church, where he found solace and community.

Vince’s proudest accomplishments were deeply rooted in his role as a mentor and educator. His impact on the lives of countless students was significant, and he was widely recognized for his patience, leadership, and ability to inspire others. Known for his quick-witted humor, Vince could always bring a smile to those around him with his clever puns and classic "dad jokes."

Vince had a wide range of hobbies that brought him joy. Once retired, he was an avid golfer and bowler. As a handyman, he loved crafting furniture and tackling home improvement projects, always seeking ways to make his and children’s homes more comfortable. Vince was also a devoted family man, cherishing the opportunity to attend his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting and musical events.

He is survived by his children, Jeff (Stephanie), Danielle (Raghu), daughter-in-law Christine and his grandchildren, Annabelle, Violet, George, and Arya. He also leaves behind his sisters Christine and Pauline, and a legacy of love and laughter. Vince was preceded in death by his son Bryan and his sisters Judith and Jennifer.

Hold tightly to your memories of Vince, for the stories he shared and the lessons he taught were his enduring gift of comfort and guidance, meant to stay with you forever.

In lieu of flowers, Vince would appreciate if you donated in his name to Habitat for Humanity. Funeral services will be held 12 noon on Saturday, January 4, 2025, from St. Joseph’s Church, where the funeral Mass will be celebrated by the Reverend James Buttner. Friends may call at the church from 10AM to 12PM, prior to the funeral service"
