About	Age 67 - Mrs. Joan A. James, age 67, of Parishville, passed away on October 10, 2012 at the Highland Nursing Home in Massena, where she had been admitted the prior week. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 18th at 11 a.m. at the Garner Funeral Service with Rev. Lee Sweeney celebrant. Burial will follow the service at the Southville Cemetery. Family and friends are welcome to gather at the Parishville Volunteer Fireman’s Hall following the burial. Friends may call at the Garner Funeral Service on Thursday morning from 9am until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers contributions in her memory can be made to the Parishville Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad. Online condolences for Joan can be sent @www.garnerfh.com. Joan is survived by her husband, Rodger F. James Sr.; her daughter, Jody James of Plattsburgh; her sons, Rodger F. James Jr., Trevor H. James all of Parishville; sister Sally French of Syracuse; brothers William Kovach, Howard “Sonny” Despaw and Terry Despaw all of Norfolk and Bobby Despaw of Winthrop; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her sister, Nancy Purves. Joan A. James was born July 7, 1945 in Potsdam, to the late Howard and Margaret Donie Despaw. She was a 1963 graduate of Norwood-Norfolk Central School. She was a homemaker and worked for a few years at the Super Duper in Potsdam. She was very active in the local bowling leagues. She was a member of the National Horseshoe Pitching Association. She enjoyed knitting, playing bingo and gardening.
