About Age 70, (NNCS English Teacher) - Connie VerSchneider, age 70, passed away on April 29, 2015 at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital in Potsdam. Calling hours will be held at the Seymour Funeral Home, 4 Cedar Street, in Potsdam from 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Sunday, May 3. Connie was born on October 20, 1944 in Potsdam, NY to the late Gilbert and Ruth (Alexander) Wood. She graduated from Colton-Pierrepont Central School in 1962, SUNY Potsdam in 1966, and St. Lawrence University in 1992. Connie married Patrick VerSchneider in 1989 at the Zion Episcopal Church in Colton, NY and they resided in Brown’s Bridge. She was previously married to Vern Ingram, Jr. She began her teaching career in 1966, when she taught at Liverpool Central School. After another two years teaching at Lansing Central School, she began teaching at Norwood-Norfolk Central School, where, for many years, she was a beloved English teacher and mentor to many. Later, she was the elementary school principal at Colton-Pierrepont Central School and then Herman-DeKalb Central School. After retirement, Connie enjoyed creating web graphics, reading, bird watching, and spending time with her family and her beloved dogs. She is survived by her husband, Patrick, of Brown’s Bridge; her son Tripp Ingram of Canton; and her daughter and son-in-law Kim and Corey Deister and their four sons of Fort Huachuca, AZ: Donovan, Ka’lani, Scott, and Tyler; and her stepson, Daniel VerSchneider and daughter-in-law Chinatsu Endo of Kathmandu, Nepal.
