About | Age 95, (Admin) - Norwood - Roscoe C. Bowhall, 95, of 39 S. Main St., died Thursday morning at his home. Mr. Bowhall retired from Northern Mechanical, where he was a bookkeeper, accountant and purchasing agent. He also had served as a mayor and trustee of the village of Norwood. He was a member and past president of both the Norwood Kiwanis Club and Norwood-Norfolk Central School Board of Education, which he served for the past 31 years. He was a member of What Cheer Masonic Lodge 689, Norwood Library Board and Riverside Cemetery Association. He also served the Norwood Fire Department for more than 70 years, receiving citations in 2003 from the New York State Volunteer Firemen’s Association and from Randall McDaniels, secretary of state. Born July 4, 1909, in Norwood, son of Frank and Jennie Mae Clark Bowhall, he was a 1926 graduate of Norwood High School. H graduated in 1930 from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, where he was a member of the Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity. He married Elizabeth A. McCormick on June 25, 1938, in the sacristy of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church with the Rev. James E. Joy, then pastor, officiating. Surviving besides his wife are a daughter, Ann B. Murphy of Troy and Chestertown; a son-in-law, Douglas F. Clary, Canton, MI; a sister, Beverly Grady, Norwood; a sister-in-law, Eileen St. Mary, Massena; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A daughter, Colleen B. Clary, died Feb. 6, 2004. Two brothers, Bernard and Clark, and a sister, Bessie Bowhall, also died before him. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Norwood United Methodist Church with the Rev. Thomas Jones, pastor, and the Rev. Karen Marshall officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Buck Funeral Home, Norwood.
