About Age 25 - William P. "Billy" Pollard, Jr., 25, Glenfield,died shortly before noon Monday, June 26, in St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Utica of injuries received in a June 18 automobile accident two and a half miles south of Lowville on Route 12, Town of Martinsburg. Billy suffered severe head and chest injuries when his car collided head on with a van. Billy had been a patient in St. Elizabeth's Hospital since the accident. The funeral was Thursday, June 29 at Virkler Funeral Home, Lowville with Rev. Charles Cotter, pastor of St. Mary's Church, officiating. Burial followed in Old Glendale Cemetery. Survivors include a daughter, Rebecca Pollard; his parents, William and Rosemary Pollard, Glenfield; two sisters, Mrs. Thomas (Valerie) Juby, Glenfield and Mrs. Joseph (Kimberly) Hirsch, Lowville; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Billy was born at Camp Lejeune, NC, on January 19, 1953, son of William and Rosemary Kelley Pollard and graduated from Norwood-Norfolk Central School. He was employed at Seaway Gas Station in Lowville at the time of his death. Billy was active in local citizen's band radio clubs with the handle of "Blue Max" and was a member of St. Mary's Church.
