About | Age 74 - Norwood - After a courageous two-and-a-half-year battle with cancer, Rodney K. Wolstenholme, 74, of 32 Clark Street, peacefully passed away at his home, surrounded by his family on Tuesday, June 21, 2016. Rod was born November 3, 1941, son of the late Lyle Wolstenholme and Ruth Lavine Wolstenholme-Blanchard. He graduated from Norwood-Norfolk High School in 1960, and attended Canton ATC College. He married Lois Ann Starks on September 28, 1963 at the Norfolk Wesleyan Church, with Rev. Otto M. Finch officiating. Rod worked throughout the region, as a District/Regional Manager for National Shoe Company, which eventually became J. Baker Inc., retiring in 2002 after 39 years. He was a member of the Norfolk Wesleyan Church, serving as Head Usher and Statistician for many years. He was truly a numbers guy, tracking numbers for work, and at home, whether for church, or following sports, or his children’s statistics, he kept records of it. He enjoyed sports, playing baseball, basketball, golf, and coaching in the Babe Ruth League. But family was most important to him, and he loved his time spent with his children and grandchildren. He cherished his time with his wife Lo, especially after retirement, whether at home, travelling, or with friends or with family. Rod is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lois; his three sons, Scott and Anne Wolstenholme of Oneonta, NY; Marc and Teresa Wolstenholme of Blenheim, NJ; and Christopher and Michelle Wolstenholme of Brewerton, NY; his daughter, Ruthy and Joe Bregg of Madrid; his grandchildren, Jessica, Erin, Michael, Brittany, Kimberly, Brenna, and Tyler; three great grandchildren, Mary Baitsell, Michaela Wolstenholme, and Carter Buske; his sister, Sheryl and George Ramsey of Canton, GA; and his brother Randy and Thelma Wolstenholme of Norfolk; and many nieces and nephews. Rod was pre-deceased by his father Lyle, on April 21, 1974; his mother Ruth on October 7, 2015, his brother Gary Wolstenholme, on October 12, 1993; and his granddaughter, Kaysea Wolstenholme on January 17, 2016. A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, July 2, 2016 at the Norfolk Wesleyan Church, at 2:00 PM with Rev. Richard Starks and Pastor Diane Hutchinson officiating. A reception will be held after the service at the Norfolk Library. Memorial donations may be made in Rod’s memory to Hospice of the St. Lawrence Valley, or the Norfolk Wesleyan Church Memorial Fund. |
