About Age 28 - Norfolk - Rachel A. Saxby, 28, passed away Thursday (Jan 21, 2016) at her home. Arrangements are with the Flint Funeral Home, Moira. Born June 7, 1987 in Ogdensburg, she was the daughter of Thomas Saxby and Sheri (DeLosh) Sharlow. She was known as a “miracle baby” because she was born with a congenital heart problem. However, her heart of compassion, and the willingness to go the extra mile to help people was huge. She cared for people unconditionally and shared kindness to them whenever she could. Rachel attended Norwood Norfolk Central School. At one time she was a certified nurse’s assistant for the Highland Nursing Home, and the St. Regis Nursing Home. Rachel was known for her speed in texting messages, and for being a Denver Bronco’s fan. She enjoyed sitting around a camp fire, relaxing with her family and friends, and was always ready to go fishing. Family gatherings were truly treasured, especially with her son Gavin. Rachel’s belief in angels in heaven, motivated her to start collecting them to serve as a reminder that there was a guardian by her side. Special memories will be forever in the hearts of her son Gavin, mother, Sheri Sharlow of Norfolk, her father and step mother, Thomas and Leanne Saxby of Norfolk, and her maternal grandparents, Harold and Sharleen DeLosh of Florida. Her three sisters, Jessica Saxby, Ciera Smith, Marisa Graves, a brother, Matthew Sharlow all of Norfolk along with many nieces, nephews, aunts uncle and cousins survive her. Besides her paternal grandparents she is pre-deceased by her three children Cody, Chelsea, and Faith. A Memorial Service Celebrating the life of Rachel will be held Thursday (Jan 28, 2016) 11 a.m., at New Testament Church, Massena. Memorial contributions may be made to your local American Heart Foundation.
