About Age 69 - Norwood - Funeral services for 69 year old Darrel R. Shyne, a resident of Norwood and Leesburg, FL, will be held Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at the Buck Funeral Home in Norwood with Rev. Lee Sweeney presiding. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Norwood on Monday from 4-8 p.m. Mr. Shyne passed away on December 26, 2013 at The Villages Hospice Home in Florida. Darrel is survived by his wife of 35 years, Pamela, Norwood; three daughters, Kindra and Todd Cousineau, Norwood, Sarah and Sgt. Justin Storie, Osceola, IA and Rachael Shyne, Norfolk; his beloved grandchildren, grandsons, Austin, Brandin and Brock and a granddaughter, Audrey Grace; his mother, Philena, a resident of the St. Regis Nursing Home; two brothers, James and Helen Shyne, East Meadow, Long Island and Walter and Jean Shyne, Norfolk; a sister, Mary and Edward Mitchell, Clarksboro, GA; and many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by father, Francis Shyne. He was born in Tupper Lake, on September 25, 1944 to Francis and Philena Breane Shyne. Darrel graduated from NNCS in 1962. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1962 and served until being Honorably Discharged in 1969. While in the Navy, Darrel attended MIT and Virginia Tech for engineering. He served in the Army Reserves from 1970-1971. Darrel married Pamela R. Taylor on August 2, 1978. He worked for General Motors as an electrician for 38 years, retiring in 2009. Darrel enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his friends at their garages. His favorite pastime was hanging out at the hockey arena's watching his grandsons play. He was known to everyone as Pa-Pa and cheered for all the kids. He will be missed up against the glass. Darrel was also known for eating hot dogs at every arena and ballpark around and was fondly referred to as Mr. Fix It. He was a member of the Norfolk American Legion, Post #925. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to be made to The Villagers For Hospice, 601 Casa Bella, The Villages Florida 32162-9985.
