About Age 58 - Brasher Falls - Iris N. (Bellinger) Newtown, 58, passed away Monday (June 3, 2013) at her home with the love and support of her family at her side. Funeral Arrangements are with the Flint Funeral Home, Moira. Iris was born June 3, 1955 in Gloversville, the daughter of Earl & Elsie (McLain) Bellinger. She was a 1973 graduate of Norwood-Norfolk High School. She was previously married to Roland Cota. August 17, 1996 she entered into marriage with Leslie J. Newtown, and July of 2011 the couple renewed their wedding vows at the Knapp Station Community Church. Iris worked 18 years at the St. Lawrence Center Mall, and was presently employed with Helping Hands of Potsdam. Iris's pleasant nature, gentle smile, and her genuine passion for caring for everyone was present whenever she entered a room. She had a natural talent for cooking, baking and sewing and was known for making a few prom gowns and wedding dresses. She was always up for a camping trip, or any event to spend time with her family, friends, and especially her grandchildren. Memories will be forever in the hearts of her husband Leslie; her children, Jeremy (Lisa) Cota of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Heather (John) Liebfred of Parishville, Roxanne (Michael) Abernathy of Massena; her stepchildren Leslie (Michelle) Newtown Jr. of Brasher Falls, John (Alexandria) Swalgin of Rochester, Michael (Becky) Swalgin of Utica and eleven grandchildren . Also surviving Iris are her siblings, Luella Bellinger of Massena, Charlie Bellinger of Massena, Muriel Bellinger of Norwood, Katherine Herne of Norwood, Clara (Lloyd) Bresee of Norfolk, and many nieces nephews and friends. She was pre-deceased by her parents, and a brother and a sister during their infancy. Iris's calling hours will be held Wednesday (June 5, 2013) from 3-7 at the Knapp Station Community Church. A funeral service celebrating her life and her love for God will be held Thursday morning, 11 a.m. at the Knapp Station Community Church. Interment will commence at the Carville Cemetery, Helena. Memorial Contributions may be made to Helping Hands of Potsdam, NY.
