| About | Age 57 - Vestal - A memorial service for Debra Ann Melligan, 57 of 337 First Ave, Vestal, will be held Saturday, December 29, 2012 at noon at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Binghamton. Mrs. Melligan died Friday, December 21, 2012 at Lourdes Hospital following a long illness. Debra is survived by her husband Joseph Comelius Melligan, 61; her three children, Sean Patrick Melligan,34; Kyle Alan Melligan, 31; and Shannon Marie (Melligan)Hoover, 27 her two grandchildren, Tyr Alexander Melligan, 6; and Corbyn Aloysius Melligan, 20 months; and her four brothers, David Max Felix, 63, Darrell Reginald Felix, 59, Dale Lee Felix, 45, and Dana Lewis Felix, 44. She was predeceased by her father Max Joseph Felix on October 20, 1996, and mother Audrey Ann (Greene) Felix on August 16, 2008. Debra was born February 6, 1955 in Lee Memorial Hospital, Fulton, NY, to Max and Audrey Felix. She grew up in Fulton area and in Norfolk, NY. On July 23, 1977 she married Joseph Melligan of Selkirk, NY. Debra lived in Vestal for 31 years. She was a Home and Careers Teacher at both Johnson City and Newark Valley Schools, and was involved in many community Activities. She sang with the Vestal Community Chorus, and volunteered as a Girl Scout leader, a Boy Scout leader, and a leader for local Odyssey of the Mind teams. She was an avid crafter, reader, and world traveler, having visited Italy, Canada, Great Britain, Ireland, and Switzerland, as well as countless places all over America, during her life. Arramgememts are by Aegis Cremation & Funeral Services, 196 Clinton Street, Binghamton, NY. In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Vestal Volunteer Emergency Squad or to the International Book Project. |
