About | Age 68 - Norwood --The funeral for Gerald B. LaComb, 68, of 10 Morgan St., will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Andrew’s Church with Monsignor Harry K. Snow, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Mr. LaComb died Wednesday evening at Canton-Potsdam Hospital, Potsdam. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Buck Funeral Home. Mr. LaComb was a pot tender at Reynolds Metals, Massena, for 34 years, retiring in 1993. He was curator of the Susan C. Lyman Museum, a village historian, a member of the Norwood American Legion, a past member of the Norwood-Norfolk Central School board of education, an exempt member of the Norwood Fire Department and a communicant of St. Andrew’s Church. Born Aug. 31, 1937, in Potsdam, son of Bernard and Erma Garner LaComb, he graduated in 1956 from Norwood-Norfolk Central and served in the Army. He married Laura M. Talcott on Aug. 31, 1957, at the Church of the Visitation, Norfolk, with the Rev. Francis J. Connors officiating. Surviving besides his wife are three sons and a daughter-in-law, Michael, Centreville, Va., Larry, Liverpool, and Nathan and Michelle, Wilmington, Del.; three daughters and a son-in-law, Mary Lou LaComb, Woodbridge, Va., Diana and Sheldon Arpad, Fort Myers, Fla., and Roxanne LaComb, Lenoir City, Tenn.; two brothers and their wives, Lloyd J. and Johnnie, Wharton, Texas, and Thomas G. and Nancy, Port Edwards, Wis.; a sister and her husband, Evelyn and Richard White, Virginia Beach, Va., 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A daughter, Sherrie A. Malone, died March 6, 1997. A sister, Marilyn Slider, also died before him. Donations may be made to the Warner Cancer Treatment Center, Potsdam, or to Susan C. Lyman Museum. |
