About	Age 65 - Norfolk - Royal E. LaPlante, 65, died Saturday at Massena Memorial Hospital. The funeral was held at the Church of the Visitation with the Rev. Andrew Amyot, pastor, officiating. Burial was made in Visitation Cemetery. Surviving are his wife, Jean; a son, David R.; three daughters, Mrs. Stan (Ann) Maine, and Mrs. Paul (Susan) Haggett and Mrs. Scott (Jane) Northrup; 11 grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Jerald (Janice) McIntosh. Born July 24, 1929, in Norfolk, a son of Percy and Mary Selina LaPlante, he graduated from Norwood-Norfolk Central School, Norwood, and Potsdam State Teachers College. He served with the Navy in the Korean War. On Aug. 25, 1956, he married Jean LaRue in St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Norwood, with the Rev. Francis Brannan officiating. Mr. LaPlante was an elementary school teacher in the Massena Central School District until his retirement in 1990. He served as a trustee to the Norfolk Hepburn Library. He was a member of the Church of the Visitation and the Norfolk American Legion.
